Daylighting Design Best Practices- An Integrated Approach

Topics: At the leading edge, advanced design integrating glazing, shading, lighting, and controls can be complex, difficult and produces new challenges for the design team. The presenter as both educator, and consultant, has been involved in some of the world most challenging daylighted project and will present the philosophy and latest techniques necessary for these project types and the integration of required design tools for such lighting and daylighting applications at various stages of design. Specific examples would provide clear guide to develop the next generation of daylighting technology and its integration with electric lighting systems.

Mojtaba Navvab, Ph.D., FIES - Doctoral Program Faculty within TCAUP at the University of Michigan since 1985, A fellow member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), a recipient of five IESNA's International Illumination Design Awards (IIDA) and the latter with several awards for daylighting research and for design input on some of the most prestigious architectural commissions of the 20th century. A recipient of American Institute of Architecture (AIA) distinguished teaching award. Chair of the Certificate Program in Simulation Studies within Rackham School of Graduate Studies. Chair of three Technical Committees (TC) within the International Commission on Illumination (CIE). He is also a member of the International Advisory Board for Lighting Research & Technology Journal within SAGE / CIBSE publications.
